We all have long to-do-lists, projects or a big dream we want to work on.
And all of us know the difficulties to really get things done. 
Productivity books and methods as GTD (Getting Things Done) by David Allen are booming.

You might think "One day, I want to...." but then life comes in between: I have little time, I am too busy, it's raining, I don't have the right tools, it is not the right timing... all excuses for not starting. You wait for 'better this' or 'better that'.
​You wait for the perfect situation. 

We all know this as procrastination. 
I am so guilty of it, too. 

This week, I wasn't painting. I had tons of time and enough inspiration to get going.
​But I was waiting for the perfect situation: me in my dream painting studio!

This summer, after months of travelling, I was full of inspiration and wanted to paint, a lot. But there was little room inside the house, so I didn't paint for a while. I was dreaming of a big, well-equipped studio. Meanwhile, I started to paint occasionally on the table in the patio. 

I've spent long hours in the garden shed - creating many new paintings.
Then Autumn came! First, I put more cloth on to resist the low temperatures. But even with 2 jackets, my hands where too cold to paint. It's time for something new. 

​But still no nice studio. It didn't matter how much I dreamed of my perfect studio - it hadn't appeared on the horizon. 
Again I was waiting. And not painting. 

Luckily, I realized after a day, that I don't have to wait for the perfect situation. That I could start with something little, something not perfect.
I knew there was a spare room in the house. I couldn't transform it totally, as we need it when guests are visiting. 
​So Freek and I came up with this creative solution: the bed easel! 
It is a temporary painting wall that you can install on top of a bed frame. With little changes, I had a studio!

​Your to-do list, project or big dream needs a push. A push from you. 
Be brave, take responsibilty and GO, make it happen! Step by step to the perfect situation.

Hey guys,

I hope you are all doing fine and enjoying autumn coming.
 
After a couple of weeks full of Amazon jungle inspiration on the canvas, the memories of Latin America find their way to my artwork. I love the new imagery that reminds me of colourful Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. 

As you will see, I am still in love with the layering proces. It is also nice to take pictures to share with you while the paint dries. So enjoy my 'homage to the llama'.

First layers with a 3 second writing exercise, writing the words that come to mind. Most of them will disappear but there are still there and I believe their energy stays on the canvas.

Quieting down the background, creating more contrast.

Here it is- my friendly, cute little llama.
At that point, I called the painting done and took it with me to the living room, smiling back to its funny face. But in the end, it felt a little dark- I found I lost some of the energizing background.
It took me a while to know how to change it. I didn't want to loose it's texture. If I could. I whished I could have used an app to upgrade it's brightness. In the end I decided to take the risk and cover a lot of the background with white and collaged paper on it and colored all of it with more bright colours on top and added more marks again.
